Overview : – Other than a thin nitro satin finish, the PRS Singlecut Satin is the same guitar as the regular and original PRS Singlecut, that was released around 2000 – Same spec, features, pick-ups, hardware, neck profile etc – It is just spec’d with a thin nitro satin finish, as per the original Modern Eagle’s – I know the history of this guitar, with a date of birth of 2007 – I originally sold it, to a regular customer, and today I can offer it for sale once again – So one owner from new – Look at the pics and it is hard to believe the figured maple top, decked out in emerald green, was not designated a 10 top  – Check out the review, (click here ) courtesy of Guitarist Magazine and Dave Burrluck

Condition wise this Singlecut is used but not abused – Look at the highly figured maple top and you’ll just about find a couple of light compression marks to the top surface of the nitro finish – Look closely around the high E string area, between the humbuckers and you’ll see a slight haze/surface blemish from pick marks – But subtle at worse   – Look on the rim and rear of the mahogany body and again you’ll pick out the odd nick, but nothing nasty  – Likewise look at the rear of the body and any buckle wear/compression marks are more subtle than nasty – The biggest give away to regular use is the oxidization of the nickel hardware, in particular to the humbucker covers – Frets are fine, plus no nail wear to the fingerboard – Fitted with a new set of 10’s, then set up with a fluid easy action, that responds to a light touch, so it is already to go – Includes the appropriate deluxe PRS case as well as the original factory swing tag

The highly figured maple top is decked out with a flamboyant emerald green nitro satin finish – So certainly distinctive –   Whilst the colourful abalone inlays on the dark plus smooth rosewood fingerboard add additional ‘glamour’  – Remember the original Singlecut models are not chambered, so you get the full weight of the one piece mahogany body which adds some girth to the tone – It sits on my digital scales at 8lbs and 11oz, so very much par for the course regarding many LP  flavoured guitar – Traditional LP influences continue with a one piece mahogany body and like many PRS Guitars, a 25″ scale length  – Fitted with a complete set of nickel hardware including a set of ‘Kluson’ style non locking tuners, the lightweight, wrap-over bridge tailpiece, that is milled from a single piece of aluminium – Whilst a pair of PRS No.7 humbuckers, complete with nickel silver covers, sit at the heart of the engine room – Neck measures 7.23K – bridge measures 8.15K  – The neck pick-up is loaded with those fat, smooth and lush vintage based tones with great articulation and no shortage of output and sustain – Whilst the bridge pick-up is hot and full bodied, with smooth upper mids and highs, plus clear tight lows, that ensures it will be adored by the modern rock player who requires that extra grunt, without losing  any musical warmth – The 25″ scale length ensures that it ideal for any players who wish to drop tune,  as it still remains tight and articulate, so as to allow those big crunching riffs to cut through the mix – The clean tones on either pick-up are warm enough to please those looking to relax and delve into chilled out blues or jazz  licks – But kick on the ‘dirt ‘ channel on your amp, or pedal, for some great rock tones, with vintage flavoured tones oozing out of the neck pick-up, with plenty of that throaty bite, sustain and articulation from the bridge pick-up, that makes it excellent  for crunch chord work, riffs, or scorching lead work – Both volume pots have a treble bleed capacitor fitted, so that it will retains its clarity as you ‘roll them off’ a touch – This now allows you to set up the amp with some overdrive, then adjust the guitars volume pots for a full on approach, or a softer more chilled out approach, with less gain, yet still preserves the guitars full expressive qualities – As such you and the guitar are in total control of all the emotion, soul and expression that it can deliver

The guitar has been re-strung with 10’s and set-up with a very fluid playing action throughout the length of the 22 fret rosewood fingerboard – The mahogany neck features the wide/fat profile, which  instantly feels  comfortable in the palm of your hand – Measures .867″ around the top nut end, then gently fattens out to .948″ around the 12th fret  – Despite the phrase ‘wide/fat’ it is actually a tad slimmer than most Gibson necks – So enough girth to give substance and aide tone and stability, but not to the extent that it will impede your playing – You’ll experience that ‘played in’ character as your hands stroll along the silky smooth  satin finished mahogany neck- With a chunky set of frets, that are correctly profiled and polished to perfection, then string bending is effortless, even with a set of 10’s, whilst a slick action is part and parcel of any PRS Guitar
