This Gibson Custom Shop Byrdland is somewhat of an unusual guitar for me to stock – I recently traded it in against a new Collings i35LC – If I wanted to bide my time, I’d price it up for £5395 and wait a while for a potential sale, that might or might not involve a part exchange – However, as I have no other arch top models in stock, I wish to move it on quite quickly – As such it is offered for sale at cost price, in order to hopefully sell through nice and quickly – So £3599 is my price but no trade in option at this price – In short £3599 is the cash price, whilst I’d happily trade in many options at £5399
Few other key details
- It is a Custom Shop model and complete with the deluxe case, certificate/wallet as well as a gold warranty card – It is the warranty card that supports the 2010 date of birth
- Further more, the label inside the treble side f-hole, which talks about the hand carved/tuned nature of the body, also supports the 2010 date
- Whole guitar weighs 7lbs and 5oz
- Classic 57 humbuckers
- Neck profile measures .825″ at the top nut end and .960″ at the 12th fret, so medium depth
- Restrung with 11’s and a wound 3rd
Condition wise – It has been played only at home – Look hard at the gloss finish and you’ll find only very minor signs of use – Almost the odd superficial surface graze, but certainly nothing nasty – Some wear on the gold plated hardware, which is pretty much par for the course – Most wear is on the fancy tailpiece and I suspect most of this is from cleaning
Set-up – When I acquired the guitar and came to adjust the set-up, I thought it played okay, but nothing outstanding – Yet in part as it is a nice guitar and in part as I bumped into Steve Robinson (Manchester Guitar Tech) at a guitar show, I asked him to take a look at it – So a few days later when I picked it up, I can report that the play-ability has been vastly improved – Glad I went to the additional expense to sort this out
Pics – Sorry but the pics don’t really do the finish justice, in particular to much glare and reflections, but hopefully you’ll get the jist

Guitars4You Offers Reliability, Integrity and Expertise
Every guitar in stock at Guitars4You has been personally selected, inspected and approved by me, with particular attention paid to the set-up and playing performance – Every sale, phone call, mail order transaction or e-mail is handled my me – Mark Hopkin, the owner, Managing Director, cleaner and coffee maker (Jo, my wife helps with the coffee) – A journey, now in excess of 40 years, has fuelled my knowledge, experience, love, devotion and passion for exceptionally fine guitars – This reflects in every aspect of our business.
I have no desire to run an Amazon style 'click to buy' guitar shop, that lacks any soul or passion, or indeed to fill a showroom with a selection of dirty, shop soiled or dusty guitars that are in need of a set-up.
