Without any doubt the Tele is the grandfather of the electric guitar industry – It was there at the beginning and over 60 years later it is still used today by so many players, in so many different genres of music – 2011 arrived and time to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Telecaster, with the introduction of the made in the USA ‘Telebration’ series – 12 different variations of the Tele were released throughout 2011, so one Limited Edition model for each month of the year – None were spec’d as an exact replica of a specific model, or year, yet each Limited Edition Tele has been styled, borrowing various ‘historic’ features, that in a way makes each Telebration unique – For June 2011 we have the Fender USA 75 Telebration Limited Edition
Influenced from the mid 70’s period, with features that you generally found on a Jazz Bass, in particular the black block inlays on a maple fingerboard, along with a set of black pointed knobs – Add a natural finish to a contoured ash body and you are left with a Tele that has distinctive features – Released as a limited edition, for June 2011, with a world wide run of 500 and less than 50 allocated to the UK – Back in 2011 and a new version sat on the dealers wall for around £1700 – Today Guitars4You can offer a used, but very clean example for £1290
‘Used’ maybe the wrong word in this instance, as generally it evokes thoughts of wear and tear and probably excessive use – This 75 Telebration is a very clean example, so a detailed search of the shiny gloss finish is required to find a hint of any wear ‘n’ tear – Unless you are very pernickety about any slight pick marks on the black scratchplate, there is little to moan about – £1290 includes the deluxe C&G vintage Fender hard shell case with stitched leather ends, as well as a whole load of tags – Weight watchers will adore the weight at only 7lbs and 11oz, which is excellent when taking into account that many original 70’s Tele’s tend to be very heavy guitars
Spec and details are still more 70’s influenced, hence a maple neck/fingerboard, with a vintage 7.25″ fingerboard radius, with 21 vintage frets and a regular C neck profile – Note the 70’s bullet style truss rod and of course whilst you are looking around the headstock you’ll find the F stamped logo on the rear of the machine heads, along with a black Fender headstock logo – The bridge is pretty much 70’s vintage based, with 3 pairs of saddles – In the traditional manner, the bridge incorporates a single coil pick-up, whilst the strings are still loaded thru’ the body as per most Tele’s – As this Telebration is influenced by the 70’s Tele Custom, you’ll note the large 3 ply black scratchplate, that incorporates the ‘wide range’ neck humbucker, that is based on the original Seth Lover model that Fender utilised in the 70’s – All controlled via a 3 way LP style toggle switch, along with 2 volume pots + 2 tone pots – In short a Tele with plenty of character
