Take the chassis of the best selling AM Strat Standard, then hot rod it up a touch with a few select Custom Shop options and you are effectively left with the Fender USA Lonestar Strat – Note the factory addition of the tortoiseshell scrachplate, plus rear trem back plate – Dating back to 1996, this is an original  USA model with a classic sunburst finish, so don’t confuse it with the current model, that shares the same name, but with a different spec, that originate from Mexico – This Strat is all original and includes a red label, all original, Fender case, as well as various tags – It still retains the 50 years sticker on the reverse of the headstock

Condition wise it is a very clean instrument, with only light superficial grazes to the top surface of the gloss finish – Look on the top of the body and you’ll be hard pushed to find a hint of a graze, whilst a tour of the rear, will only reveal the merest hint of a graze to the top surface of the shiny gloss finish – So overall we are looking at negligible amounts, so taking into account this guitar is now well over 20  years old, it is a clean instrument with no dings or dints – Frets are fine, but if you wish to be ultra pernickety, as it has taken 22 years of use to reveal the merest hint of fret wear, then you’ve easily got another 22 years of similar use, before any fret dress will be required – Re-strung and set-up with a set of 10’s and a fluid action

A set of jumbo frets on a 9.5″ fingerboard radius allows for a fluid playing action and no choking out as you dig into big blues bends – The modern C profile has a comfortable feel to it, whilst the satin finish on the maple neck ensures you’ll experience more of that played in feel, so overall a neck that is slick and easy to play for those that want to work in the fast lane, yet the chunky frets allow you to go slow and dig  in as required – The neck measures .849″ around the top nut end and gently fattens out to .875″ around the 12th fret  – The 2 point trem system is currently set flat to the belly, with only a slight touch required on the arm for any down pitch – Of course I can easily adjust this as required

Tonal qualities :- The HSS pick-up spec on such a Strat generally suits the more rock orientated player who requires the fatter more powerful output of a bridge humbucker, so think along the lines of classic rock from Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi etc etc – Yet the middle and neck pick-ups deliver the classic Strat voices as required, thanks to a pair of Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials, as found on the Stevie Ray Vaughan Strat – Middle pick-up is RWRP and both pick-ups measure 5.2K and 6.3K  – Then sat in the bridge position you’ll find a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, that measures 7.84K and delivers fat smooth vintage qualities with an extra ounce of bite and output – Smooth highs and fatter mids for soloing, with tight lows for crunch rhythm – You’ll find one tone pot operates the 2 single coil pick-ups, with the bottom tone pot wired to fine tune any variation that might be required on the bridge pick-up  – The 5 way switch allows delivers 2 excellent out of phase quack voices as and when required
