You can hardly say a 23 year old Les Paul is rare, yet equally you don’t see that many fine nice used examples in guitar stores today – So let me update you with a few key details regarding this used, 1995, Gibson Les Paul Standard, with a lush honey burst finish – It weighs 9lbs and 13oz, so not the lightest nor the heaviest LP you’ll find, but at least it is safe to assume it is solid and not a chambered model – Overall it is in more than fair condition for a 23 year old guitar – Mainly light compression marks on the rear and rim of the mahogany body, but certainly nothing nasty – The odd light graze and wear to the maple top, but again nothing that could be considered even approaching nasty – The only concern to some might be the ‘weathered’ headstock facia – It is not uncommon to see this on various Gibson Guitars – Some blame it on slightly damp storage – Some blame it on a factory blemish – Others blame it on the machine heads and the hexagonal nuts that have been over tightened at the factory, that will in turn cause a stress point, hence the ‘weathered’ vibe – It actually looks far worse than it is and no reason to be concerned as there is no structural issues whatsoever – However taking it all into account it has been priced accordingly at £1575 including an original Gibson case – Re-strung and set-up with a new set of 10’s and a sensible fluid action – Frets polished and all okay
All original throughout including bridge and tailpiece – No fret changes – No repairs – No headstock breaks etc etc so a good example – Kluson style tuners with hexagonal ferrules/nuts, plus the ‘snot green’ tulip buttons Original Gibson pick-ups and electronics including switch and pots etc- The one piece mahogany neck has a C profile that measures .850″ around the top nut end and 1.00″ around the 12th fret – So a touch of the slimmer 1960 profile around the first few frets, than gently fattens out as you move up to the dangerous end of the neck
How does a Les Paul sound ? – Do I really need to tell you ? Suffice to say that as you play a few laid back licks, chords, riffs and screaming lead licks, through a clean or overdriven amp setting you quickly notice you are playing a Les Paul – It’s musical, its fat, its warm, it can scream and bark, but it can smoother you with lush qualities as well
