To describe this PRS West Street Brazilian Rosewood Limited Edition as used may well purvey the wrong message – Yes it is one of the first and original models from 2007, but it is effectively still in as new condition – I sold it brand new to a local PRS collector in December 2007 and have now taken it back into stock on a commission sale on behalf of the same collector – In the last 11 years you can tell it has been well cared for and very close scrutiny will reveal very little evidence of use when you explore that shiny gloss vintage orange finish – Additional info concerns the weight at 8lbs and 5oz

Time for a quick story :-  The PRS West Street Limited Edition model was originally released in Autumn 2007  as part of a special world wide run of only 300 guitars – However due to  Cites issues with the supply of Brazilian rosewood fingerboards, only a small quantity of the original models ever left the factory – This left PRS with the question about what to do with a quantity of partially built West St guitars  – In the end it was decided to complete the project by offering the remaining models with a Macassar ebony or Indian rosewood fingerboard  – So as I mentioned earlier this is one of the early and original models with a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, so rare and highly desirable

The West Street Limited Edition guitar pays homage to the original hand built models Paul personally built in the early days in his workshop on West Street, Annapolis, Maryland – Compared to the body shape that we have known for the last 30 years, the early PRS ‘protoypes, along with the Santana model, had a more symmetrical body shape, hence this is the shape retained for the West Street

As you would probably expect, this limited edition is something rather special :- One piece mahogany body with an exotic sapele figured top, then further embellished with a green ripple abalone and paua ‘dragon’ inlay – This sapele top possesses exceptional alluring qualities that add to the guitars seductive appeal – One piece mahogany neck with  the Santana 11 neck profile, topped of with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, then graced with green heart abalone bird inlays – The sapele headstock veneer features a green heart abalone eagle along with green heart abalone ‘OM’ inlay on the  rosewood truss rod cover – Incidentally the West Street models are spec’d with the shorter 24.5″ scale length, again as found on the Santana models, along with a 11.5″ radius fingerboard and 22 nice medium jumbo frets, installed and polished to perfection  – The West Street is fitted with an original style, non-nickel plated PRS brass tremelo system, along with a set of PRS low mass mini locking tuners with large nickel tuning buttons

Santana 11 style 3 way switching, so no coil tap option, with a master volume and tone pot to control the HFS bridge pick-up, as well as the lush sounding RP neck humbucker, both with zebra bobbins – Just for the record, if you think the lack of coil tap options might limited the tonal variations available, then think again, this guitar is all about tone and emotion and a few seconds of listening to Santana himself will leave you in no doubt whatsoever what this guitar is capable of

The guitar is shipped with an artist pack style leather bound deluxe case, which again is in first class condition – Signed on the rear of the headstock ‘1980 West St Ltd” – Also included is a copy of a letter/certificate, signed by PRS, regarding the West Street model which states in the final paragraph ‘ I hope you truly enjoy this instrument. It is intended to provide a lifetime of enjoyment. This is not just a reproduction, but a quality musical instrument that is extraordinarily similar to what I made on West Street all those years ago- All previous limited edition PRS guitars, Artist 1,11,111 and 1V, 10th Anniversary, plus the Signature Guitars, to name but a few, have proven to be excellent long term investments, with used examples already fetching at least the original selling price, if not more
