I have a big soft spot for P90 based guitars, so to get a used PRS Soapbar Custom 22 into stock is like a kid waiting for Santa - I sold this guitar brand new around 4 years ago and have just taken it back into stock - Playing wear is ultra light, so whilst I can't say it is 100% as new, it is a strong 9 out of 10 and would equate to a used car with around 10,000 miles on the clock - It has a slight nick on the side of the natural edged binding, otherwise we are about 'ultra light playing wear' - Re-strung and set-up with a set of 10's and a nice fluid playing action - Yes it includes the deluxe PRS case and tag

The PRS Custom 22 Soapbar is a re-release of an earlier model and was part of a limited run with only 10, or so, actually delivered in to the UK - If that alone is not a reason to wet your taste buds, then how about that enticing curly flamed maple top that is loaded with character and finished in ruby - To be quite frank with you, I've seen plenty of 10 tops that don't measure up to the quality of this flame top - The abalone bird inlays on a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard always add a nice touch of class to the overall package - Regular features of a Custom 22 are the PRS 14:1 ratio locking tuners, along with the PRS patented modern fulcrum tremelo, which helps to provide you with a trouble free tuning package, coupled with a super smooth feeling tremelo system, whilst the solid milled brass bridge saddles and a solid milled brass trem block enhance tone and sustain

The one piece mahogany neck has a D profile, giving it the fullish vibe of a 60's Strat neck, hence the nut width is a touch slimmer than the wide/fat or wide/thin profile as found on many PRS models, whilst the girth of the neck is very comfortable to handle and certainly does not impede your playing - In short it has some magical powers in the way it feels and coupled with a well set-up, easy playing action, your favourite licks and tricks just flow from your fingertips

So what about the tone available to you - First of all the 5 way blade selector switch functions in exactly the same way as that of a Strat - In many ways the tone available to you can be thought of as a Strat on steroids, so whilst it still retains those nice sparkling highs, snap and dynamic response that only singlecoil pick-ups possess, the mahogany body and glue in neck will assist in delivering more natural sustain, warmth and body than can be found on a Strat - In short, single coil clarity with the depth and soul of a humbucker - Clean tones range from warm, almost chilled out jazz based from the neck pick-up, through to more of a full bodied crisp twang from the bridge pick-up, yet remember you still have access to those 2 awesome out of phase settings - The big plus point of a singlecoil Soapbar pick-up, is the beauty and beast option - Beauty is the rich, warm tone that is found when playing it through a clean sounding amp, whilst the beast is the tone available through an overdriven amp set-up - The beast has far more bite and clarity than is possible from a humbucking pick-up, yet it still possesses the output level of a humbucker - Set the amp up with a subtle overdriven blues based tone and this guitar will reveal all of its natural harmonic content and tonal expression, as it responds so well to you playing it hard or soft - This, coupled with a volume control that actually works from 10-1, allows you to control the amp from the guitar, so as you back off on the volume pot, you'll clean up your amp tone, ensuring you are in control of the tonal expression you want - This is one guitar that the more you play it, the more you'll get out of it and appreciate its versatility
