PRS McCarty 2011 Special Run- McCarty sunburst
#3776 - £1,799

Once again we have hand picked for stock another new example of the original spec'd PRS McCarty guitar - If you take a regular peek at the PRS web site you will have noticed that the original McCarty model has now disappeared, so what are we now doing with new stock - Headline Music (the PRS UK supplier) have managed to secure a small, yet special run which is certainly good news - What is even more remarkable is the price, which taking into account various price changes, the dollar rate and vat levels, then £1799 is no mean achievement - No options, regarding bird inlays or 10 tops, just a great guitar at a great price
Despite the Gibson v PRS court case that took place a few years ago regarding the Singlecut body shape, the McCarty is in fact a lot closer in performance to a Les Paul, than probably any other PRS, certainly regarding tonal character - Compared to the best selling Custom 22/24 models, the slightly thicker one piece mahogany body, the increased headstock break angle, thinner headstock. along with the non-locking vintage 'Kluson' style tuners are all trade marks of the McCarty model, many of which are features found on Gibson's from the late 50's golden era onwards, which Ted McCarty himself would have had a major design influence upon
Don't worry about any weight issues, as this model doesn't even get close to hitting 8lbs on our scale - The subtle east coast curly flamed maple top, with a classic McCarty sunburst finish, along with those nickel covered humbuckers, ensures the vintage aroma is alive and kicking - Tone is provided by a pair of PRS McCarty humbuckers which are fat, warm and smooth, with incredible sustain, coupled with a touch more clarity than is found on an LP, all of which ensures that the sought after blues based moody tone is all there for you to enjoy - Additionally you'll find that when using the McCarty with overdriven amp settings, as you back off on the volume pot, the guitar will clean up nicely, whilst retaining good articulation - This now gives you so much more expression and soulful qualities to your playing as you can control the amp and your tone directly from the guitar - For additional versatility the tone pot has a push/pull option to activate very useable single coil tones, great for some funky rhythm chops - The one piece mahogany neck has the wide/fat profile, which actually feels just a tad slimmer than a regular LP 50's profile, so no phobias please about chunky hard to play fat necks, as the McArty plays like a dream - Set-up with a set of 10's and a good fluid action throughout the length of the 22 fret rosewood fingerboard - Yes, £1799 includes the deluxe PRS case
